Wendy Harness, Facilities Management Coordinator will present how Delta College initiated its sustainability efforts and why it is important to our community. Additional discussion areas include: what we have done well and where we are still growing, how students play a part in sustainability at Delta, and Delta in the community.
Wendy Harness is the Facilities Management Coordinator at Delta College (MI). As part of the Facilities Management team, she has experience in project planning, utility management, and sustainability strategic planning. She coordinates STARS reporting, serves on the AASHE Advisory Council and ACUPCC Implementation Liaison Committee.
With Wendy’s direction, Delta College continues to excel in its efforts for responsible waste management through campus-wide recycling systems and as a champion of the college’s sustainability efforts, ensures student and staff engagement through outreach and educational sessions. She is also involved in the certification process for all new buildings and renovation projects seeking LEED certification.
Wendy is currently involved in the planning of a business/student-focused sustainability forum scheduled for Spring 2020, helping to create a pollinator-friendly campus under Bee Campus USA directives, promoting employee-driven sustainability initiatives campus-wide, and continuing to establish new sustainability-focused community classes through Common Good a partnership with City Market – Bay City.
The meeting will be held in Multipurpose Room 101.
